Changes are recorded against the last official release – 44F11. Use BIOS Update Diskette v3.44.02 to flash to this version of the BIOS. ADDED FEATURES: Control routines were added to support the new high capacity Lithium Ion batteries. The code changes were made in ACPI. BUGS FIXED: None BOOTBLOCK: Recovery procedure for flashing the bios if the system has the wrong bios in rom. This Bios contains the bootblock code to use a file with the name NEWBIOS.ROM. If this file is present on a floppy when cold booted with an external keyboard attached while pressing this bios will be loaded into the Bios Rom. If a wrong bios has been flashed and the system is inoperative do the following steps to recover using a bootblock floppy: 1. Power down the system. 2. Insert the Bootblock floppy. 3. Attach an external keyboard. 4. Press and hold the keys. 5. Power up the system and continue to hold . 6. There will be no video, this is normal. 7. Wait until you hear diskette activity and release keys. 8. System will beep at the end of bootblock and the system will reboot. 9. The system should boot normally now. (ie. press F1 to set CMOS defaults) 10. Next power down you can remove the external keyboard. KNOWN RESTRICTIONS: None TEST RECOMMENDATIONS: Flash units to the new Bios and check functionality. Verify that the operating system recognizes the high capacity battery. REFERENCES: AMIBIOS release documents for 630 core release. AMIBIOS 440BX BIOS release document. PREVIOUSLY RELEASED COMPONENTS: None. DIFFERENCES: compared to last release v44f11. OEMPORT\ACPI.ASL\POWER.ASC – Adjusted battery trip written to PMU by adding 3% of the battery capacity to the value received from OS. Also added support for the new high capacity Lithium Ion battery. OEM.MAK – Modified macros “OEM_BUILD_DATE” and “SIGN_ON_STRING2” for build date and version number, respectively. Also modified ‘NEC_BIOS_VERSION_AT_FF42’ to reflect 440012 release.
